Welcome to the New Boston CERT Site.
Our CERT team was founded in November 2008 to
support the The New Boston Police and Fire Departments.  Our mission is to train, organize, and equip members of our community in all aspects of emergency management, educate the public, and promote safety of our citizens and surrounding communities.  It was shortly after two of our citizens graduated from the CERT training program that the state was hit with the Dec 11, 2008 ice storm. With two members already trained and the addition of two more members, the CERT team successfully opened and operated an emergency shelter for the town for 6 days providing meals, shelter, and sleeping facilities. Our current specialization is traffic control whether for Fourth of July or downed power lines during storms. Our services are not limited to this area as we jointly work assisting New Boston Police, Fire and Department of Public Works.

BE PREPARED!  Every car should have a fire extinguisher in it.  While it won't put out most fires you might see while driving or a car fire, it may control the fire enough to save someone's life or contain a roadside fire until the fire department can arrive with proper equipment!

                                                                   Volunteers!

If you 18 years old or more, CERT would love to have you!  We always need new members to help support our emergency

services.  We have multiple areas that need to be filled such as secretary, training coordinators, communication

specialists, people willing to help with maintaining supplies, willing to handle heavy equipment in emergencies, record

keeping, and just those who want to be part of our team.   We also welcome those community members who have

limited time availabilites but are willing to donate an hour or two here and there for events and fundraising, shelters, etc. but don't want to be actual members of CERT.

We also need people interested in doing training-everything from light search and rescue, how to assess building safety, listen for survivors, learn about chemical/biological/radiological/nuclear threats, setting up drills, haz-mat, teaching licensed personnel when and how  do emergency suturing, earthquake safety, flood training, and the list is endless!

If you are interested, please contact us at email address below!  Remember

every minute you volunteer is an investment in your community and an invaluable contribution only you can make!
